Different Types of Poker

There was a time when only one version of poker existed, however today it is very different.  Casinos and casino games have become massive in recent years and are enjoyed by both the young and the old and this is probably because of the vast choice available.

Draw poker is probably the simpler version of poker and features a dealer who rotates around the table between hands.  This version of the game has both small and big blinds, which are intended for the two players to the left hand side of the dealer.

In the above version of the game each player will receive five cards in total at first; they are then given the option of discarding any one of these cards.  The players then each receive another card from the deck in order to replace the discarded card.  This is a good way to build up your poker hand if it didn’t appear too healthy in the first place.

In most variations of poker, the cards hold the same values.  Omaha is another game that offers a different type of poker and features a lot of the same rules as Texas Hold™em poker, however players will only receive four cards in this version of the game rather than just two cards, which come directly from the dealer.  This rule has been put in place to add a little suspense to the game as it changes the style of play completely.

Razz is another style and offers a similar game to that of seven card stud, the one main difference being that it is in reverse and the winning player is the one with the lowest set of cards.  Flushes and straights normally won’t be featured in this version.
